The new legislation will be brought forward which aims to plug gaps in the system to ensure that disputes can be resolved without going to the courts. All landlords will require to be a member of a redress scheme or face fines up to £35,000 if they fail to do so. £0
The new measures will include:
James Brokenshire made the following comments shortly after making the announcement: \The proposals I have announced will help ensure all residents are able to access help when they need it, so disputes can be resolved faster, and people can get compensation where it’s owed.”
ARLA Propertymark, the governing body for the UK residential lettings sector, also believe that by having an easier system to use and streamlining everything through one single portal will make it easier for any resident to get disputes resolved.
A date has yet to be set for this new legislation to come into force.
